I first learned about Ande on the Sheepshead Bay boats from the mates... that was forty years ago
You must have been 5 years old then :)

Bless you, Sal, but... no.  ;)

On a 4 day in July I would not think you would need any flouro over 50 lb in test, maybe 40lb could be the top. When you get to 40 lb test and above on those trips mostly it will be dropper loop or yoyo iron and and the fish are not line shy when doing either. Its too early to go to the Lupe where you would fish bait for 50-90 lb tuna where the heavier flouro would be used.

I appreciate the info, Mr. SoCal. Thanks so much!  :)

Just one other question: Can I use a blood knot to connect mono to fluorocarbon? If not, which knot would be preferable?   ???

Many knots will work, you should go with what you tie well. I use the Seaguar knot to add a short leader of flouro on top of my mono. Super easy to tie and has not failed me up to 60 lb test. For 80 and above I like other connections like crimping or going strait from spectra to flouro with a loop to loop connection.

It seems that Alan Tani's members don't use that much fluoro lines. I have sold more fluoro lines on the other site than here.

I guess people are more old school angler here than the other site.

used alan's fluorocarbon in 30, 40 and 50 pound during our SOA 5 day, worked great, not a single knot failure that i was aware of.
send me an email at alantani@yahoo.com for questions!

I stashed a spool of 40 in my bag, it is nice stuff to work with. Vary soft hand and the floro definitely increases bite ratio on yellowtail.

I've been using Alan's Fluoro and have no issues with it except for Spanish biting through it occasionally.

I just received more stocks on this Fluoro line. Come and get it.

Few members have tried it. It is cheap and work great.

Get it at www.mkt.com/pro-challenger-LLC

To any and all whom have used this fluorocarbon line......Would you consider this line as"LIMP"?

I bought some Berkley Big Game fluoro and it tied like wire.  I gave it to some nice unsuspecting man on a day boat.  He thought I was great and thanked me profusely.....little did he know I was just making room in my bag because the line was junk to me.

The line was perfect to me.  Not too stiff or too limp.  It had excellent abrasion resistance too.
