I worked on this little gem of a reel today - spent a few hours stripping it down and cleaning all the internals and its still got the original leather washers that were oversize and seem to be rubbing against the inside of the main gear - loaded  the washers onto a bolt and turned the outside down with a dremal sander attachment - greased and refitted inside the main gear - the washer that fits under the main was poked and ended up cutting one out of a two liter plastic milk bottle and is .52mm thick - tested and seems to work rearly well - upon fitting the plates together i was three bolts short and remembered my mate went over to Canada last year and brought some stainless cap screws for me - i cut them to size and fitted - Everything came together and I'm rapt at how it turned out . ;D
Enjoy

Love those little treasures.

Matt, always interesting and nice ;), thanks for sharing and keep them coming.

Forget about all the reasons why something may not work. You only need to find one good reason why it will.

i must have 20 of these if you count 4 or 5 Mag 10's; I still use them striper fishing regularly. Great little reels....anyone know when they started manufacturing them? I have them anywhere from brownish plates with plastic and metal spools / bakelite handles up to last of US made model.
