Aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's the sound of waiting on parts for three dozen rod and reel builds....

Thanks to everyone for answering my shotgun blast questions.... In some cases I have shortly thereafter  threads that answer them from just before I joined the site; members have in every case been very patient and answered anyway tho I'm sure a it may sound like a broken record. This is a great forum; I've been building rods and reels for over twenty years and my skillset has improved noticeably in just three weeks of reading your shared learnings.

Thanks to all.  For those of us in the East, hopefully the weather has finally broken and your nice hardware will get slimed soon!

We all try to help each other, John --

And we all need to remember -- the seemingly smallest contribution to this site, may mean everything to someone halfway around the world.

It has been said that 99% of folks in any craft or skill set do good, acceptable, and capable work.

The remaining 1% are the masters of their craft -- constantly trying to understand more, invent different techniques, always striving to learn and teach more to willing disciples.

These are experts at the top of their game -- always trying to hone that already sharp edge to an even stronger razor sharpness -- never willing to stop listening and learning.

A majority of the folks who contribute regularly to the Alan Tani Board are in this 1% category.

I too, have to admit, that after 40 years of working on reels -- and after just 1 week on this site, my knowledge and skills were improved greatly.  I knew the basics well -- but did not understand the art of the craft.

Best,

Fred

John,

As you can tell...reels are in our blood, and we'd gladly share to become blood brothers and sisters.

We have many masters here, but I believe this site's mastery comes from the collective knowledge of each person here.  We all have something to learn and as Fred mentioned, many of us, including myself, our knowledge and skills have improved greatly...in great part to someone else having the time, knowledge, and courage to experiment beyond what we could imagine.

Welcome and look forward to "seeing" your rod and reel builds.

Bryan
:D I talk with every part I send out and each reel I repair so that they perform at the top of their game. :D

Leave the gun.  Take the cannolis.

There are two things I don't like about fishing.  Getting up early in the morning and boats.  The rest of it is fun.
