I got a great deal from a coworker's dad. Couldn't pass it up. No real info on the rod other that it's beefy, and all Aftco rollers. Needs a good cleanup but it's solid. On with the pics!

Ya know...I knew these were big, but I'd never actually laid eyes on one until now. It's mind blowing lol. This was my bucket list reel to own, I can't stop looking at it haha. Might try to talk him down on the 14/0 he has as well. We'll see  ;)

That's a keeper Nick.

I would date the reel to early to mid 1950's. A great find !!

I also love the design on the lower part of the rod. Does it have a straight butt aftco ?? Did you get the harness assemblies with it ?? I just love seeing these all setup and ready to separate the men from the boys.  ;) ;)

Thanks man! It does have a straight butt Aftco on it, along with the harness'. Just had it apart to inspect it. Stoked to own one finally

I say early to mid 50's from the shape of the knob and large oiler on it.

If you peel the line off and find a 3 piece spool, then you know its early 50's. I believe the cast bronze spool came out in 1955.

Nice!!! I'm 99% sure it is a three-piece spool, definitely a great reel for a collector.
Forget about all the reasons why something may not work. You only need to find one good reason why it will.
