Am putting together a couple of Jigmasters -- that will be offered to AT members when completed.

Using NOS Accurate frames, Accurate sideplates, Accurate spools.

One is California style, with no clicker -- one has a clicker.

There is a slight rubbing of the spool on the head side when level, or tilted down on the handle side.

If tilted to the tailplate side -- no rubbing...

There is no bearing adjustment on the head side -- like with Tom's plates.

So, my question:

What is the best solution? -- spacer, shim, tiny ball out of a bearing, tiny lead ball?

Needs to be done the right way before offering for sale...

Or is there another solution that I am missing?

Well...I'm no expert(unless we're talkin' beer & pizza) but it seems a shim behind that handle side bearing would push the spool out just enough to cure the rub. I wish someone qualified would answer...the suspense is killin' me! 

Would worn clutch springs do the same? I'm thinking so....

I'd go with shimming the bearing also or maybe a new bearing.

I have a shim that I can drop in the mail,  if it's the same as the 113h one.

Went ahead and dropped in a SS spring shim of the same diameter as the OD ring of the bearing.

Works great -- just like a gyroscope with amazing free spool in any position -- and no rubbing or noise.

Thanks for the offer of the shim, Randy -- but I just needed to know the best solution before taking it apart numerous times.  Plus, never want a come back, if I can prevent it up front properly.

Had the shims in stock.

They make these in many different thicknesses and they fit perfect. Maybe this will help someone else.

Mike, you are the reason I had the shim on hand, since I used your advice on my Cortez build.  So you sure aren't late my friend.
