Bought a new leaf blower from Amazon and it turned out to be used. Sent it back for exchange and received the exact same one in return. There is no love loss between them and I. Tried to straighten it out on the phone to no avail.

Maybe for me it was a timing thing but a friend of mine for warned me about their super specials. I know a lot of people buy through them and do well, but I am not one!
Just my 2 cents worth!

It's not just Amazon selling you items...it's all the smaller stores selling on Amazon, some are good, mom & pop shops are on there. But some sellers are very bad...

They have seller reviews too so make sure you check those if it isn't coming directly via Amazon, can save some heartbreak later on.

That's were most of the problems come from, seller-wise.

Example, stores on Amazon that sell the rod you were discussing:

Probably so Mo. If it were me and with the problems I have had with them I would keep the rod and tell them Good Luck! Maybe not quite so nicely!

If I recall my package said something like Amazon fulfillment? Gracie put it out on the deck when it came and told me it smelled like gasoline. When I opened it there was a little bit of gas in the tank and some other junk spilled on it.
So I called them and told them what was going on. They weren't overly cordial but said to send it back for exchange. A week later, I get the same one back with an invoice that said no returns on used power equipment.

That's when I lost it. I had the persons name that I had previously spoken with and some notes I had made and they weren't the least bit interested. The last thing she said was did you read the fine print. I tell you it takes a lot to tick me off and I was rippin.

Luckily the credit card company refunded my money and that was it for me and Amazon.

Guess ya cant win em all.

Sell the expensive rod for half it's retail price and you have the money for your original rod and something to put toward a new reel.

Amazon can Go Hang.

I'll be honest the "moral" side if it didn't cross my mind. I kind of feel it's on Amazon. They are responsible for sending out goods in exchange for money but if I did a sale with a memeber here I wouldn't hesitate to notify them. Now I really dont know what to do, part of me wants to keep it because it's a nice rod part of me wants to sell it for more than I paid and part of me wants to call Amazon and see what they say to ease my conscience.  :-\ ???

Sounds to me like money wise it was an upgrade but not something you'd use as much as the original  rod you ordered. Let them know, maybe  they'll send the one you ordered and not want the other one back. Worst case is you'll get what you wanted with a little extra hassle of packing up the rod for return.
Do what you can with that you have where you are

Agree w/ Whalebreath "Amazon can Go Hang". I's just surprised nobody said anything about "the right thing" 'till B.Y.'s post. It' s a personal thing, that's not really relevant Rippin_lipps, to your original post.

An eariler point I's tryin ta make was: corp. B.S. (e.g., deception & poor customer ser.) can "infect" me to the point where I wanna break my personal code ("A man's gotta have a code" -Insp. "Dirty Harry" Callahan) and "S." 'em back whenever I can. Sub-point'ed be the " personal " aspect to a code. Diffrent for everyone, probably. I definitely haven't been 100 % in the past w/ mine.
I'm no longer signed up for Amazon Prime, but I'm sure if I want somethin bad enough I' ll be doin business w/ 'em again, at least untill I have a "StripperLou like" experience!

Fishing tackle is an art form and all fish caught on the right tackle are"Gfish"!

I contacted amazon and they are sending me the correct rod. I'm still curious if I keep the "wrong" rod they sent first, if I will be charged the original amount because that would be one heck of a deal.

storing transporting an 8 footer is annoying anyway.

component value jacks the price of a rod, so you might have some high end guides (whoopdy doo) seat etc maybe more responsive grade of graphite  but potentially 4X worth of bells and whistles (at least 2x)

I'm with you Gfish on the corporate stuff - bothers me so much I want to do something about it.

corporate or not karma may have you snapping that thing down to 7' 3" in your car door anyway, how ironic  ;D ;D

plus just because you purchased on A-Z with a smile, you may have purchased from a small business (anyone can sell there) who cant afford to take the financial loss or the inventory errors that resulted. Now their counts are likely off in both directions, and someone who purchases the rod you RCV'd might end up with your 1/4 cost rod (ie label flip flop)

Also to the issue of small businesses selling on amazon, I buy everything prime where I believe (i'm not certain) in all cases Amazon is the seller.

Lots of Amazon prime sales are only managed by Amazon.

Very often the shop selling is a small guy...

Like my brother-in-law who sell art sketchbooks on Amazon.

He works his butt off.

I've had doubles sent by amazon, contacted them, and was told to keep it.

I got my rod yesterday and put it to use this morning. The aird-x is a nice rod for around $50.

Ron Jones

AND THAT"S WHAT ITS ALL ABOUT!!
Buyer got the rod he wanted, and caught fish. No one is going to dip into their profit margin shipping an 8 ft rod. I'm guessing he'll go back to Amazon because they took care of him but most importantly, he's catching fish!

Way to get it done boss man.

If you are catching Tarpon in Florida they can not be removed from the water unless you have a Tarpon Permit and it is trophy sized as sized by Florida law. They must be unhooked while still in the water.

No. You can't remove them if they are over 40 inches. I know my rules and abide by them.
