I just learned how to splice loops in hollow braid and dacron. How big do you guys like to make the loops? I know that you need one loop to be large enough so the spool can pass through. Should you make the other loop small or should they be equal in size?

I make them more or less equal size. Not sure if it matters but it is easier for me.

Leave the gun.  Take the cannolis.

There are two things I don't like about fishing.  Getting up early in the morning and boats.  The rest of it is fun.

if the loops are too small, you can always open them up a little.

Thanks guy. I got it figured out. I made both loops close to the same size.

Splicing the loops was easier than I thought it was going to be. I think I like this method better than the Chinese finger trap method.

I rigged up a spooling station in my garage. I was able to get all my reels spooled up. The reels with hollowcore feel nice and firm. I don't think I'll have anymore issues with the braid digging into itself.

You splice a loop on the end of hollow braid or dacron. It allows you to connect lines that are different sizes in diameter. I used it to connect hollow braid to dacron. I wanted a topshot of braid to make a designated kite reel.

Also, allows you to swap out topshots quickly. You connect two loops with a cats paw.

Check out this video. This is how I learned.
