Is a 109 worth $15 at a flea market? Yup.

Scored this 109 last week on the side of the road. Just a quick wipe down, I may replace a chrome piece or two. These greenies are some of my favorites; second pic with my 9. One to go.

Hey wait...that looks like a 209. ???  Maybe it's just the handle throwing me off.

Nope, 209 is the "one to go" lol. It's possibly not the original handle; as you know the later ones had the straight knob. I may replace with an amber to match 9 if I confirm not original.

Yep, the 109 used the small double paddle handle. I've seen many with the larger counterbalanced handle added...but I'd have to think it would be hard not loosing a finger when that spun during a cast...remember these 109s had no free spool! Some early ones used a small counterbalanced single paddle like this one. 8)

Very nice!
Aside from online I haven't seen green.

Anything green is worth a lot more then fifteen bucks.... at least to me.  Fred said some time back that he has seen Penn 9's with straight knobs like a 109.  I cut my teeth with a #9 and we always looked down on the 109.
