Here is a new to me way of making and baiting a large bottomfish jig.  The Idea was from your Hardy Boy from BC.

It is a 24 oz with 2 j hooks snelled on with neptune cord and crimped for the connection to the new eye formed out of the old molded in J hook.   Painted w glow in dark paint.   and Deep sixed!

These are a little long for jigs and even bigger when a strip of bait are added.  Butt sometimes thats what they are looking for!

I dont know Gary.....I think some more field testing should be done  ::)   Bill
It may not be very productive,
but it's sure going to be interesting!

Gary: I'm glad they worked for you !! Nice Job !! They are longer than my jigs but you are allowed to keep much larger halibut then we are. Do Alaskan residents have a size limit or annual limit?

I love it when you are holding the rod and jigging ......and feel the tap tap , set the hook , and feel the whomp whomp and then a nice run !! After that I'm happy to hand off the rod as the rest is just work.

Our halibut season is closing soon. My wife picked up a nice 35 lber yesterday so the freezer is topped up.

Cheers:

Mr Hardy B,  in Alaska sport fishing has no size nor annual limit for Residents Non Guided.   Butt the daily limit is two per day.  Tanks.
Yes the tap tap kapowee, is quite a memory ;)Hold on and handoff,  I,m learning that trick, butt sometimes the company is wary and not easily fooled.    Sure is fun,   I will show the unbaited jigs soon.   Pictures are somewhere ?? ???

Heeey!  what happened to the red cooler???  Dominick
Leave the gun.  Take the cannolis.

There are two things I don't like about fishing.  Getting up early in the morning and boats.  The rest of it is fun.
