I found a NIB set a few years ago that I put on my dust collector.  Ugly pitted rings are OK for a working reel but powder coating is a good idea.

I have stock parts all you would ever need. I can put together a reel from new parts. No outer rings though. I can get used ones from randy if needed.

I think it's one of those reels that a few when they see it will find the answer they've been looking for.  After looking into it I dont think I'd have a regular use for it. It is an extremely neat reel. Deffinantly one to have for collecting... Jeff

What about getting a run of ring sets made from stainless? Having personally made a set myself, I would happily pay for a set or two, as I know what it takes to hand make them....

Lemme look into it.

I can see stainless rings being a popular part for many reels that stock rings have become hard to find.

I just started playing with a reel that seems to be less common than the 349, the Post 90 Seaboy 185 and 190.  They use a Jigmaster drag washers so there are things that can be done to up the drag on these reels.  The 190 holds enough line to be a mid depth Pacific halibut reel and is same size as a 66 with 3.5:1 gearing.  Ted sent me a stronger stand for the 185 (thank you again Ted, the stand is also made of unobtaniun) and I picked up a much more common 30-66 one for the 190.

Those graphite Seaboys seem hard to find, even on the Internet.

As soon as I quit giving my $ to Tom, Randy, Ted and Bryan I plan on stocking up on gear sets and a few other 150/190 specific parts.  I wish 29L-85 spools were available.

That's an impressive crew of working mariners Lee, you have been singing the praise of these tall narrow workhorses for a long time and I reckon you might be responsible for more than a few of us getting interested in them. You were supplying us with custom dogs, washers and advice before Justin (Redsetta) made the Monster Mariner in 2013 (the first after market 349 frame I had seen). Thanks!

Thanks also for bringing up the seaboy +1990 185 & 190 reels, I'm not easily influenced, but I just bought a 190 in case I missed out  ::) ;D
I had another quick look at the schematics on MysticParts and it seems the two are pretty much the same apart from the width, they share the same head plate, bridge, gear set and most parts except the spool and frame. I might have a look at a stronger 185 frame when I finish the cut down 210.

It can't be too difficult - a lot of people do it.

Cross bars would help.  Due to the shortage of the Post 90's Seaboy reel it would not be worth making production runs of aftermarket parts.  I plan on testing the 190 on Pacific halibut.

Hey there.  Here is a 349 maxed that I found a little while ago, it's a wide version of the original.  An alum spool n a strong frame.  A friend thought it was cool 😎.  I'm wondering what it is?  Wider than a baby 349 and big like a full size 4/0.  Quite nice. I'm thinking maybe of selling it.?  If anyone is interested?  Very good condition.

A pik or 2 of a super 349.

I'm more interested in a narrow frame and spool that is 1 5/8 inch wide. This one is a dandy.
