Reel 224

As the title says. I was working on the most recent reel I purchased to upgrade the internals when this happened to me. I was removing the bridge from the side plate to get to the main gear when I realized the dog spring was missing, it had stuck to the under side of the bridge so I carefully removed it and was placing it on my bench, I thought! Well it wasn't there...........What??? I said to myself, were did that son of a B@#$c go? I looked high and low, on the floor,on the bench...........everywhere. I Thought. I was thinking, I saw it. What the heck happened to it? When I was about to give up and place ANOTHER Order from Scott's when I placed my head down in shame...........WHAT!!! That little spring was stuck to my polo shirt!

So that's the long and short of it...................Joe :-[

Glad you found it Joe. I can assure you that your not the only one that's lost a few.

Always a good idea the have a bunch of extra's in the parts bin.

I was doing a Beachmaster the other day and while setting the flat spring " felt" it go Boing....not seeing it fly, started searching the bench, floor, shirt, pants, chair.... ???  So into the parts pile, dig out another and as I was setting this one it wouldn't set  ??? ???   A close examination shows the original spring "boinged" into place as it should have.....Cool Beans as I won't have to place another order for springs....Bill
It may not be very productive,
but it's sure going to be interesting!

Lou: I have to stock up on parts that is for sure. Crazies things happen when you trying to be as careful as possible. (Murphy's Law).

I once found a missing AR spring on the floor in the kitchen, 2-3 days after I had lost it upstairs.... and someone had written about finding one in his beard (Mo?)..... if you have cats and drop something small on the floor, watch the cat's eyes. They're better at this than we are. I've found pills dropped in the bathroom that way....

One of my cats has been caught taking parts off my bench, playing with them and then hiding them.  She carries them off in one paw walking on 3 legs.
Hi, my name is Lee and I have a fishing gear problem.

I have all of the answers, yup, no, maybe.

Yes sir Sid...I crawled around on the floor for an hour. Then after giving up I went to the bathroom to wash my hands...looked in the mirror and there was that spring hanging in my beard! :D

Joe, the cat has to be there when it drops and hits the floor.

My young daughters always help me out.   They have to be in earshot of the spot where I drop something.  I don't move until the part is found. They really get a kick out of helping their Dad out of a tight spot. :D

My son is not as helpful this way; hunters vs. gatherers ;D

Yes indeed! The kids would be excellent at finding these tiny dropped parts! Way better than me...first crawling around with reading glasses on...then off...then feeling around with my hands...sheesh!! I wish I could get myself to remember: A dab of grease on that spring before trying to install takes a ton of "air time" off of it when it goes off in flight...LOL!!! ;D

I've lost Springs that the Cats can't find. If I need 1 Spring I order 6 Springs. It's easier this way.

Mike
I have not failed.  I just found 10,000 ways that won't work.

I agree with that statement> You have to have an arsenal of spare parts.
