I have a mint with box Wright and McGill Eagle Claw ECP Made in Italy.
Does anyone know if it would have been made by Ofmer ?
Thank you

Yes, all the Wright & McGill Eagle Claws that are stamped "Italy" (ECO, ECP, ECQ, ECR, ECRU, ECS, ECT & ECU) were made by Ofmer. They're circa is early '70s. Shakespeare made three models (ECH, ECL & ECM) for Wright & McGill in the late '60s, then they switched to the Ofmer made models for a few years. By the mid '70s the Ever Green & Blue Pacific models were made in Japan.

Did the quality of the reels change when they went to Ofmer ?

Midway Tommy

Shakespeare and Ofmer are both high quality reels, especially in their day, just different mechanical designs. Personally, & just my opinion, I think Ofmers were/are a little over rated, but still much better quality than most reels of that time period.

Are the Shakespeare versions of the Eagle Claw reels different mechanically from the Ofmer Eagle Claw reels?
If so, what are the differences?
Thank You

Yes. The Shakespeare versions are the same as their own stock models, 2052, 2062 & 2080, just a different color (Eagle Claw's standard bronzeish brown).
