Tuff Christmas for the family and friends of Dave Turner "droppedit" on this board as Dave passed away yesterday from a short bout with a fast moving cancer !!! Dave didn't post a lot on the board and mostly under rod building but as his friend I know he watched the board often.
He was a very talented rod builder his specialty was old school jigging rods for the Northeast Cod and Haddock fishery He also made some beautiful big tuna rods. I met Dave 10 or 12 years ago when I wanted to have a nice light jig rod built and found he lived pretty close to me. I took a drive out to his little working farm in western Mass and we instantly hit it off !!! He finished that first rod and it is still my favorite today. We started fishing together and became good friends and I became his BEST CUSTOMER !! Dave did many rods and repairs for me he even re wrapped a few old wooden big game rods for me that came out great !!  He and his wife Pam also fell in love with our pack of dogs and they came to visit me and Brenda and the dogs often.  I am glad to have made a last visit with Dave last Sunday he was at his home and gave me a good hand shake and we had a nice conversation and I brought my dog Gabby who Dave was very glad to see !!!  He went down hill very fast the last week. He will be sadly missed !!         John Taylor

My condolences John, loses of close friends really hurts.  Dominick
Leave the gun.  Take the cannolis.

There are two things I don't like about fishing.  Getting up early in the morning and boats.  The rest of it is fun.

That's a heartbreaker.  I know he was planning on expanding his shop.  My sympathy to the family & friends.  When the Lord needs a good man, the plans of mice & men take a backseat to His desires.

He did nice work.  To Dave's family, I'm so sorry for your loss.  It's a tough time of year to loose a loved one.  Especially so suddenly.
