hey guys, I already started with my plan to sell all my favorite rods of my personal arsenal, time to let go all my factory rods and only fish with custom rods built by yours truly.

now I would like to hear some recommendations for replace my next rods:

* shimano trevala 5.8 XXH  ----->> probably I will go with a UC Zeus #3 but still hearing opinions

* Okuma shadow Stalker inshore 8ft 40# line 5oz  ---->  option is  UC CE700H but this is a MOD-Fast and I like the action of the okuma rod which I think is Fast (action) , Im not set on using only United composites brand, so a Calstar grafigther or seeker will work too I just dont want to go over $150 per blank, primary use is casting hard plastic lures, 2oz spoons, jigheads and softplastic lures

* Phenix Axis 820H, same deal looking mostly for a 40# rod graphite or composite blank for livebait or casting irons as tady, salas, etc, not set on any blank in particular right now.

* selling my Super Seeker 6ft 6460XH AR but I already have that covered with two stand up custom rods  a 6ft seeker and 6ft Calstar GF  https://alantani.com/index.php?topic=31722.0   &  https://alantani.com/index.php?topic=27213.0

For 30# see if you can find a PCH 801H blank

For 50# UC GP 8' Predator blank

I'm just building a uc gp monster for me.  Built a few for clients and like them so much I got one for me.  I figure to use it for 50lb
So many good blanks these days, hard if you can't go pull on them
Do what you can with that you have where you are

I can't help with jigging rods.

For 30# bait I like the UC Tilefish Jr.  The Phenix psw760h is great too.

For 40# bait I like the UC US 76HP. Lite tip with plenty of back. I use the Okuma PCH 76xh too... great rod for the pesos.

For 40# lures (surface iron) I like the Phenix psw809xhj. It just works! I love it for Wahoo bombs/Raiders too!

As always, YMMV.

thanks for the recommendation on the UC monster, I will check that blank but as you said, kind of hard to get a nice blank without the opportunity to pull on them

Okuma dont sell blanks, only factory rods, I like the action of some their rods, actually I do like their Okuma TCS line of rods but no avail finding a similar blank.

for 30# I already have a factory Phenix PSW760h and its a great rod I like it a lot so, I will keep it for sometime I pair it with the Abu Toro beast 60, I was thinking to rebuild it to put my personal touch on it or sell it and get the same blank.

******************
found a factory Calstar GF 700M 20-50 locally that have problem of corrosion in almost all guides so, I got it cheap as chips, I really like the action of that blank, I might just rebuild it with new guides and do something with the foregrip and keep it in my arsenal, coincidentally I was checking the Calstar GF 700ML blank so, this will work for toss some small irons.

I second Swami - UC GP80 Monster. My go to 40# & can drop down to 30# too.

I like the versatility of the Phenix 809xhj for 50#. But maybe others if you just want to pull hard.

seems that all the love for United composites blanks is on the GUSA GP line, I asked the same in another place and not a single recommendation on the Elite or Platinum series.

I handled a 700H UC elite and although its composite it felt super light as 100% carbon blank, I liked it a lot

That 700m is a good 30# rod.

In the UC line the regular US series are all you need for 30# & 50#.  A US Predator, either 76 or 80 will fish 50# easily. The RGP's are bascially one line class stronger than the equivlent US series. I have an RGP Predator 76 on order for fishing 60#. The regular US version has worked well for me with an HX Raptor fishing 60#.  Besides, I dig the factory blue wraps with my blue Avets!

Alex, Mark is right on with his advice regarding the UC U.S. models. There are a number of choices for 50 line rod blanks from UC. It all depends how your using it.

I dont believe all GP series are capable of one line class higher. I believe a couple will possibly go two line classes higher. But hey this is just my opinion we all have diff expectations & diff ways we fish.

For 50 line the CE series the Wahoo is lite with a soft, slower taper. This rod will fish 60 easily if you allow the rod to bend above or into the reel seat.

Next up are the CP Challenger Platinum's the CP 70 HP 50 - 80 most use it as a 50. It is a beast of a rod.

I will say, no one else makes a rod like the CP's they have the fastest taper of any rod made at least of any American made rods I've rapped or used. Have a bad back or arthritic grip ? These blanks likely wont go well for you. they bend in the top 1/4 of the rod any more & they at this point act like an unlimited rod. I've plucked 40 lbs. off the floor with my 70 HP's REPEATEDLY while doing demos. Need to skull drag a fish from its home ? Probably no better rod.

Next up as far as my personal choice is the 8' Tilefish "NOT THE JUNIOR" the Junior is some's fav rod for 30. The 8' Tilefish is my all time fav rod for the fishing I do. I have fished this rod regularly with 30 - 100 line. I have plucked 35 lbs. off the floor with it repeatedly.

When I go to the river for several days I cant stand hauling a bunch of different rods. the Tilefish does well for me with a Torque star drag & on the upper end my HXJ Raptor. The Tilefish wont scream or holler with a reel punching out 30 + lbs. of drag ... Now it may not act the way a rod made for a specific line class will, but it wont break & I seldom need 25 lbs. or more drag so it suites me fine. The Tilefish has a size 8 tip. It fishes 30 line well. Not so if you wish to see the rod bend through most of its length while fishing 10 - 13 lbs. of drag. .... I forgot to say most use the Tilefish for 50 line

You will NEVER break one of Randy's rods fishing it within its stated line class. Randy makes a lot of different models. After several years these are the ones I have come to accept & love... Jeff

it's always been my belief that you can not buy a rod or blank unless you are first able to "feel it, pull it etc. and preferably tape on guides and go and cast it"
