Visiting one of my 2052 reels tonight and pairing it with a 7 ft Ugly Stik Ultralight rod. I purchased this quite a while back and set it aside. It is so smooth that I am not even going to look inside. Shakespeare 2052.pdf
It looks like it had the original blue mono. I'm going to spool it with 6lb Trilene XL and give it a go.

Midway Tommy

You'll like it, they're a quality reel! Hope it's an early 2052 with the metal collar on the main shaft and not the later version with the plastic collar. If it's plastic check it closely for cracks and don't tighten the drag knob too tight and leave it tight for long periods.
Love those open face spinning reels! (Especially ABU & ABU/Zebco Cardinals)

I can`t believe you said that , You know that it does not have a check engine light or oil light .  I would open the hood and check to make sure it is safe to run !!!!!     :fish

It must be high tide in Valrico. I am the engine. My wife performs regular checks of my competency. I have passed muster so far.

No box Gfish. It's a beautiful reel with a few marks on the foot. It's obviously been on a rod. The white plastic spool is near pristine. They tend to get chalky with exposure to UV. She's a runner.

The 2052 & 2062 are very good reels, Steve —-

I'm trying to get a Friday fishing invite from a couple of my retired friends so I can put it to the test.
Working towards a 4 day 10 hour schedule.,

In my humble opinion, the 2052 is the most beautiful reel ever made.  I purchased my first one when all my friends were buying Mitchell 300s.  at 69 years old the 2052 is my go to fresh water reel.  I have a stable full of them (and still will buy one when I get the chance).
