Benni that is an incredible wrap!  Are you gonna be fishing an Uncle Sal reel on it?  That looks sweet!

   Actually that is a pretty simple cross wrap. There a couple threads crossed in the pic Benny posted. They have sense been fixed. I've been very impressed with this Thomas & Thomas, Horizon blank of Benny's it was originally made in the late 80's & has been wrapped by someone else at least twice ... Jeff

After the Christmas rush, I went to Matagorda to decompress.  I figured the reds would be warming up and moving after a couple of nights in the high teens.  Many areas of the bays were shut down due to the low temps, but the surf and inlets were open.

These were taken from Sargent Cut, during a fast outgoing tide.  I was using Carolina-rigged shrimp or mullet...didn't matter which.  They wouldn't take any artificials.  The bite was very soft and I had to let them swim with it for a few seconds on free spool and a light thumb.  Just flipped it out about 20' and worked slow on the bottom.  I don't know how many slot fish I threw back, but I was real busy for six hours.  I ran out of bait right at sundown.  Came back Tuesday and got a few more, then the wind changed and that shut it all down.  Due to short casts, had to use my 5500C3 on a Zebco 808 bait rod.

Nope it's a thomas and thomas fly rod 9wt it will get a sage fly reel,,,,   but the last reel sal did gets a crowder rod made custom for that reel and they don't do custom rods,,,;)

Here are a few more slot reds and black drum taken on surf tackle New Years Day.  My old friend on the left had never caught reds from the surf.  We threw back 3 oversized fish.  It's just as much fun for me to watch somebody else get their line pulled all day.  He's a crappie fisherman from the Lake Travis area.  I warned him after setting hooks in these fish he's likely to yank the lips off the crappie.
