Ok, I have a few 5000 stradic FI that I'm tinkering with. Going to attempt to fit a power knob onto them... one has a factory handle...knob came off just fine. Second one had a replacement handle from possibly a spheros? This one does not have the slotted nut like the other one...just a flat surface. Any advice on getting this thing off? The knob is pretty tight and doesn't spin well at all. No amount of PB blaster or oil has been able to loosen it. Thank you!

Gotta drill it out. Lacking a drill press I use dremel engraving bits from the back until it'll wiggle free. Then you gotta use the aftermarket post. You'll wanna use glue or locktite on the screw that holds that in.
Any machine is a smoke machine if you use it wrong enough.

So surgery it is... best to drill from the opposite side shown?

There's a few good threads on this but basically yes. Drill out from the side opposite where you hold. Put tape over the non-target areas because you will slip at least once. And get yourself some very small stainless steel washers so you can put one between the screw and the back side of the handle. That will also help cover any scratches that make it past the tape.

Please don't just run off and do it based on that one paragraph description. There's step by step guides out there I just wanted to give you a basic overview.

Good advice! I'll do a search on it. I assume the threads are general "how to dril out a spinning reel knob" and not specific to this particular handle/knob

A Step bit or Unibit sp works the best.  It doesn't pull itself into the metal causing mistakes
