*Just my opinion.
Unfortunately, going to have to disagree with you there brother, especially for someone with not alot of experience using braid. Handed my brother-in-law, who's been fishing for 50 years my rig loaded with braid one time, was a complete disaster! He absolutely, hates it and does not like it  at all lol!
I'm a huge fan of braid, without a doubt. And I do, use it on some revolving(casting)reels, and on most of my fixed(spinning)spool reels. However, I also use a lot of mono for fishing as well. Absolutely Priceless when fishing around heavy structure, Boulder Fields, etc.
The idea here, was to get him more comfortable(Experienced) casting with it.
Much easier to pick out professional over-runs lol, with mono, than it is with braid.
And a hell of alot cheaper, if you wind up ruining a full spool, or some other nincompoop does this for you!
Honestly, his skill level casting these, was never mentioned either. I just know it's much much easier, and cheaper to master these reels with mono first.
You only have to have one strand of braid overlapping, just like on a spinning reel, and disaster can happen!

Again merely statements of opinion, and first and foremost I'm happy to see you back online. But I'm gonna argue with you.

Boulder fields are what leaders are for. I like flouro.

Knock on wood, past about my first week playing with casting reels, I can only remember one single braid-based ratnest that I couldn't easily untangle. And it was largely because it was really old line due for replacement anyway so I didn't try. Definitely can't say the same for mono, which is why I don't fish it anymore, at all, ever. I'm thinking it has to do with actually being able to see the individual loops of line with braid whee mono is clear. If you're cutting braid, you're admitting defeat. The only reels I own with mono on them are ones I haven't gotten to yet and definitely haven't used yet.
Any machine is a smoke machine if you use it wrong enough.

I'm with you on that Jason.  Haven't used mono since braided Spectra lines were introduced in the early 1990's.  Before that I would use braided Dacron or braided nylon on conventional reels and usually avoided spinners.  The preference of old-time tournament casters was braided silk.  Mono has a terrible "hand" or feel about it.

Beautiful reel. I looked at those reels briefly, but I couldn't think of any application where I would need one, so I managed to talk myself out of buying one (which is rare for me).

Ohoi:) Please don't "argue" on my behalf ;)

I have never used a multiplicator reel for castingg just for "jigging", so new at that.( and I need to start from scratch, so I think Mono to get the feel is a good thing for me. :)

On my spinningreels I use only Braid, and cast them ok.

And I apreciate all comments\advice\feedback :)

That reel is one of the best casting reels I've ever owned. Fishing or field casting. I wasn't using mine much and I had too many reels so I sold it to a guy who fishes it regularly and he loves it as much as I did. I bought the skeleton kit with the spool, everything but the brakeplate. I'm thinking of building a 5500 for my daughter, she has a really hard time laying line on the 6500's. 95% made in England, what a nice reel!
