I have been wanting to create a spreadsheet for my reel collection
for awhile. If I get hit by a bus, my wife will have an idea what the reels are worth to guys like us.
I googled it & sure enough there are AI spreadsheet generators, has anyone tried any, wonder how accurate they might be.Coworker
Used to say find the laziest guy in the company & he will find the easiest way to do something...

NEVER LET "SHE THAT MUST BE OBEYED" KNOW WHAT YOUR GUNS, RODS AND REELS COST.
Hi, my name is Lee and I have a fishing gear problem.

I have all of the answers, yup, no, maybe.

I rather members get them than ending up at goodwill or file 13.
Friend had a big nascar collection
Worth several thousand, when he passed his wife sold it all to one guy for $800.She had no idea or didn't ask anyone for advice on the value.

Mary has been told who to ask for fair prices.

Go to your local office supply and get a package of hangtags with string on each tag. Put all the details of the reel on the hangtag, including a current market value and any upgrades, rarity, approximate age, condition, etc. This will also benefit the buyer

Mary and our kids suggested I do that.

AI won't do what you are seeking

Elect a couple of individuals to take care of the reels for you.

My buddy here in GR took his stuff to a consignment place , I was saddened by it.

He has one daughter and 2 grand daughters, who have no interest in fishing.

Allocate funds to take care of expenses for the guys helping you out.

The problem with selling the collection is that it will add to the emotional burden ...

Ted I started doing that just becuase I was having a hard time keeping track.  How old is this line?  Where did this reel come from?

I built a spreadsheet using an off brand version of Microsoft Excell to keep track of my reels.  Included is a median fleabay price.  I periodically print the inventory, especially when significant  changes are made.  One of my sons has been entrusted to deal with the collection.  I also did the same thing with firearms.  All the printed spreadsheets are kept in a folder where everyone knows where it's at.  Next will be the rods.

Something to consider, both my mom and her mom, started writing tags to go with various family heirlooms.  It's been a great help now that mom has passed away.

It may not be very productive,
but it's sure going to be interesting!

If you can't tell your wife the value of your reels, guns, tools, etc. and what you actually paid for them then you've probably married the wrong lady.    ;)  ;D

All 700+ of my reels, 100+ rods & all guns are all listed on Excel spreadsheets with location, serial #s if they have one, cost, condition & reasonable market value. It's only right to make life a little easier on family members if something were to happen to you.  8)
Love those open face spinning reels! (Especially ABU & ABU/Zebco Cardinals)

When I'm dead, they will haul all my hobbies to the dump to make room.  I watched it happen when my father-in-law passed away.  It was criminal and the same women are still in charge.

I am talking vintage reels only no modern, except for one 6500 C3,what I consider a big money reel...I have a few select vintage reels I fish with. The rest are in totes, drawers,& 4 on display.

Put their shoes in a pile, pour gas on them, light the pile and let them watch and cry.
