KlickitatJoe

Good Morning,
I am new to the site...thank you Alan for helping me get registered.
I don't feel like a collector, but have ended up with more reels and rods than one human could ever use....mostly Garcia Mitchell 300s and 308s, and now DAM Quick spinning reels (especially the 220N).
I am really liking these DAM Quick reels.  Went most of my life without knowing they existed....perhaps not a big presence on the west coast of the USA?  I love old fiberglass rods, especially pack rods, Eagle Claw, Fenwick, Cortland, etc.  I am curious (and perhaps I just need to do more searching) if someone services older spinning reels?  We used to have a nice reel service shop in Portland called Ollie Damon's but they have retired.  Thank you!
Joe G.

Welcome aboard, Joe!

For over 40 years, I have serviced, restored, and repaired  Mitchell's, and DAM Quicks —- as do others on here.

Ollie Damon ran a good shop.

I keep a massive inventory of parts for DQ, Mitchell, Penn, and ABU/Zebco Cardinal spinning reels.

Welcome, Joe! Nice to have another spinning reel guy aboard. There are a few guys that service spinning reels that frequent this site regularly. They should  along shortly to give you some guidance & direction. Many of us try to service our own reels and there are a lot of people here that can give helpful advice.
Love those open face spinning reels! (Especially ABU & ABU/Zebco Cardinals)

Hi.

Loosing Ollie Damon hurt, I delt with they from the late '70s until the closed.
Hi, my name is Lee and I have a fishing gear problem.

I have all of the answers, yup, no, maybe.

Welcome Klickitatjoe!
Yup. Ollie Damon let me get away with not paying them back in the early '70's. Sent in a MG 306 for warranty repair and new line. When it came back, I saw a repair charge, (maybe they determined that the issue was my fault) along with the new line charge on the bill they sent back, "little so and so" that I was, I blew 'em off. Still feel bad about that one. But I never heard back from them...

Welcome Joe from the SoCal Inland Empire!  You're in the right place; I suspect most of use have more reels than we will realistically use... - john

Welcome, Joe.  The best spinner repair and service on this site is Fred Oakes. Dominick San Mateo, CA
Leave the gun.  Take the cannolis.

There are two things I don't like about fishing.  Getting up early in the morning and boats.  The rest of it is fun.
