Fred,
Nice!Ted gave me my 1st DQ 280 Finessa & you restored it!

Now,
I am content ::) not,My name is James...I am a reelaholic.

Is there a 85 seaboy with a red handle or a 100 Surfmaster with the tail plate surf scene
in the mix?

I'll check —- but don't think so, James —-

Got rid of around 150 conventional Penns a couple of years ago when deciding to focus on quality vintage spinning reels only.

These last 50 or 60 were recently discovered and pulled out of various old tackle shop boxes and storage bins.

Got rid of all of the Seaboys, and don't think I have the plates or 100 SM reel you are referring to.

But I'll take a look over the next few days.

Still have a few dozen boxes to dive into —- sorting out junk for the dump trailer (it is about half full), pulling out reels, and other stuff.

Company today, Community Play tomorrow.  Will get a chance off and on over the next few days.

Pulled out a bunch of really good and high quality rods this morning —- about half are new —- others are VG to EX.

Best, Fred

Lots of work.  But I'll give it a shot this afternoon or tomorrow.

In town today catching up on errands —- dropped off Chipper at the groomer, and voted early.  Heading off for a few other stops.

At Home Depot now.

Listed about 85 quality rods in the member's for sale section.

Let me know if anyone is interested and I can get more specific.

Took a full load 10' X 6' X 5' utility trailer over to the dump this afternoon in Northfork.  3 hour round trip on mountain backroads.

Boxes, plastic, old fishing stuff, old rods, old reels, brake rotors, pads, and calipers off the Tacoma & Subaru, old shop vac, etc.

When tossing out a box —- found that it had some valuable spools.  Mitchells, an ABU, and a DAM Quick 1001.  The 1001 are rare and worth around $40 in new condition like this one.

Glad the box dropped open so I could save these.

I am slightly saddened to read this.  I understand that sometimes it is time to cast things away, but wish that it could have been more practical for rods and reels that still had usefulness in them, to be made use of rather than thrown on the scrapheap.

If postage abroad were not so costly, I'd have looked into taking some of those rods.

I am mostly tossing out the junk that no one wants —-

Parts reels, off brand reels, conventional reels, plastic or graphite reels, bad rods, cheap rods, loads of stuff that is just taking up space.

I will keep all of the vintage (early 50's to late 80's) Mitchell, ABU, Cardinal, Penn, and D.A.M. Quick spinning reels.  Around 900 to 1000 of these.

There are nearly a half million NOS parts for these reels —- number organized and filed in numerical order.  So that will keep me busy.  About 800 reels left to get rid of —- then just the complete above mentioned reels will remain to sell and/or restore.

I would like to start doing some powder-coating on certain reels —- just for fun.  Got the PC shop set up.  Just need to clear the excess inventory first.

Goal is to just toss and don't look too hard —-

Timeline for me is the end of this year.

In a hundred years, no one will know the difference...

Currently at 4:10 PM on Veteran's Day —- it is 37°, wind at 8mph, has been up to 16mph, weather monitor sez it "feels like" 27°, raining.

Supposed to let up overnight —- then another longer and colder storm coming in Thursday, for a few days duration.  Possibility of a bit of snow at our elevation of 4500'.

Fred ,you have too much thing that I want .Can't take all at once and I don't want to spent $10.00 to sent you $75.00 so at least I want a spool DQ 1001 that you almost toss away ,a Mitchell 408 shallow spool ( same as 308 ) Do you have any Lamiglas graphite salmon ,steelhead rod ?

foakes

Do you want a casting rod to pair with an Ambassadeur baitcaster, or a spinning rod?

I have the 308/408 shallow spool.

I'll see if there is anything I can do on a 1001 spool.

The problem is that I have more frames, sideplates and rotors for 1000/1001 than I do spools.  So it is tough to get rid of a spool for a reel that I can build and sell for $150 - $225.

But I will do a count tomorrow.  Let me know on the rod.

Quote from: quang tran on November 12, 2024, 01:42:29 AMI want a spinning rod ,already have 11' casting rod but my left hand getting weak to use that

Here are some, Quang —-

DAM Quick 1001 spool, complete & new, $40

Mitchell 308/408 shallow spool, complete & new, $15

(3) graphite rods —-

Cashion Icon Spinning rod, USA, iDS7MLFs, 7', fast, 1 pc,
Med-Lt 6-10lb, 1/16-3/8oz, 9 guides, serial number, new.  These sell for $220-$235 currently.  $135.

Kunnan Spinning rod, KIM7-862MSTS, 8'6", medium action, 8-17 line weight, 1/4 to 3/4 Oz lure weight, gorgeous spiral green, new, 2 pc, cork, 8 guides.  These are one of the highest quality rods ever built.  I compare them with Fenwick & Conolon.  The chief engineer who worked for Conolon for 9 years —- was recruited to set up the Kunnan Factory.  This is a magnificent rod.  $60.

Daiwa Pitchin' Rod, Pro-Lite Pl-414, 7 1/2', medium-heavy action, 12-30 lb, hypalon, 1 pc, rod retracts 12" into the handle for transporting easier, 7 guides, new, $50.

$300 total.  Your price would be $250 for all (5) items.
