Here is a Bretton 804SR reel with a matching Martin Fly Ware
6 1/2' 6 piece glass rod.

Vintage 1971.  France.

A nicer, more pristine combo will never be found.

Rod action feels like a 1 piece.  Good backbone, sensitive action on top half. 

Even the reel has been in plastic since new 53 years ago.

Probably the best $100 one could spend - what a beauty!

Little mystified that no one has jumped on this brand new 53 year old Bretton-Martin Travel Rod and Reel.

Probably because they might be little known to folks.

This is not some knock-off Asian engineered reel —- made in France.

It is a medium sized high speed reel at 4.75:1 —- 30 inches per turn of handle.

Stainless Steel Ball bearing.

Worm-drive double supported SS shaft (Like Cardinals, DAM Quicks, Penns, Alcedos, and vintage Shakes).

Carbide line roller.

SS bail.

Audible tumbler-click A/R.

Handle is removable as well as collapsible.

(6) drag washers.

Helical brass & SS machine cut gears.

Drag knob locked to the spool to prevent loss —- and a band on the spool to prevent line slipping underneath it.

Cast aluminum frame, plate, and spool cup.

One-screw take apart for quick inspection, cleaning, and service.

Baked enamel maroon with a smooth finish.

Only 11 ounces.

Rod is one of the highest quality glass pack rods ever produced and by a well known company —- Martin.

After explaining all of this —- I should raise the price, or keep the setup for myself.

But I do hope that someone who will appreciate the quality and value of this 53 year old pristine combo will get it.

Just the reel alone, in decent used condition — is worth $50 - $75 currently.

And this offer is for the whole package.  Unused, new, and rare.

Here is another combo —-

Shakespeare Wonderod 6', 3 piece, Bait-caster rod.  This is a straight glass rod with the spiral markings —- and...a Spring-Loaded trigger mount.  The rod is a beautiful Light-Mint Green with dark green wrappings.  (6) guides.  Action is extraordinary —- due to the Howland manufacturing process.  Made in USA.  Cork.  Absolutely perfect wrappings and not a speck of corrosion on any of the guides or handle.

Paired with a Shakespeare matching 1970A President LW reel in chrome, Dark Green, and Lt. Crème spacers.  This reel works perfectly.  It is marked "FH" —- which means it was manufactured in 1953.

It is possible that this rod has never been used.  Hard to tell.

Anyway, it may be worth $500 or $25.  Who knows?  But I'll offer it at $75 for the combo.
