What are the differences in the 5000 reels A-D,I know it's probably already here? Some have plastic spools, some have drag clickers?

Also, Can a 5000 reel foot be straightened?

The "D" doesn't have an anti reverse. It's supposed to mimic the experience of an old direct drive reel. And green side plates.

I have never successfully straightened one.

I have all of the answers, yup, no, maybe.

It's hard for a reel to go thru enough forces to cause a bend like that without other things going out of alignment.

The 5000D also had a limited Champagne/Gold run for the Gamble-Skogmo Stores' 50th anniversary in Minneapolis in '74. They all had the same foot #.

Good questions for a complicated subject. And that's just (for me) for the 5000 models. Not sure what an A means, a B was a larger cap. spool and single Knob handle, a C was with 2- ball bearings, a D—?—-direct drive? and the DL "deluxe"(don't know what the entails).

You can spend some time researching these Ambassadeur's. Abu seemed to me to be pretty "Willy-nilly" about identifying model differences and time of manufacture. E.g., serial numbers to 1970, then date codes. The B had no clicker for 2 yrs., then they added one... Seems like some disorganized thinking over the year's, maybe by different people who didn't realize their history might be interesting to others in the future.

The last one you posted in a picture, has the serial number, so it may not be a 1955 man. date.

One guy on ebay refers to his 5000 having the big "A" it's a 72" model. The last year of the ridge side plates with the pearl handle knobs. I have no idea just the messenger?
