The thread title says it all. I love my dewalts but apparently nobody else does. Rigid, Makita. Whatever. But how cool would that be? D batteries suck.

Most DC motors will handle over voltage better than under voltage and 19v is not that much higher than 12v.  I have a old bilge pump I will power up with a 19v drill battery and see if it likes the extra voltage.

I have all of the answers, yup, no, maybe.

Are you looking to up the air pump also from 3 volt to 12 volt ?      Battery 12 or 18 volt  ?

What is the voltage of the aerator? You might consider a low to mid AH LiFePO battery.  You can find them on Amazon for less than $50.  Add a inline fuze and switch and the price should be less than a hand tool battery. A LiFePO charger will run the price up but I have seen batteries with chargers for a fair price.

I'm talking about the little "quiet bubbles" aerators. They run on 2 D batteries but can run on one. I imagine a buck converter to get an 18v drill battery rigged up to that could make it run for just about forever. And when it does eventually die you can swap it out easy and recharge.

I know you cool kids who fish from boats don't spend much time thinking about aerators for buckets But the few options out there aren't very reliable. And it sucks to stop fishing for a few hours and come back to find out your battery died and with it your bait.

I recently found some old 18650 batteries that I bought right before I quit vaping in 2019. But I haven't charged them yet because that sounds like another word for a time bomb.

You could build a battery pack and run multiple 1.5v D cell  batteries hooked up series/parallel, multiple banks of paired batteries.

With one of those a lead acid motorcycle battery would be a low cost option.

I started using the AA baby bubble boxes,it uses 1 or 2  (1.5 - 3 vDC) I believe
2 AA will last 20 hours it seems, never timed it.I have discovered you have to spin the batteries sometimes or clean the contacts with alcohol/acid brush or Qtip. Also, when it's cold the pump may need encouraging to get going,I use my finger to get it started, probably just needs a dash of Lucas reel oil?

I have a 120VAC bubble box for long term, but I like your idea on the surf

Cool. A rechargeable mini air pump.
I try reduce the clutter in the yak by tossing a few into the "mirage drive" well. With the drive pedals or motor installed the right size bait fish can't escape. As the yak moves there's always a flow of water. The motor churns up quite a bit more than the pedals. Also I have the classic PVC tube with screens on both ends and holes in the side. The tube method is much more of a hassle; you have to move it outta the way all the time(tangle-ups)and try not to troll with it deployed.
Fishing tackle is an art form and all fish caught on the right tackle are"Gfish"!

My uncle used to use a 12v bilge pump for an aerator in his pontoon boat livewell, lots of bubbles :D

Crab Pot

Off topic but in an emergency situation (battery died) my dad taught me to add ice.

The oxygen trapped in the ice will release when it melts.

Not too much ice though.

Buy it nice or buy it twice.

Interesting. Probably works great for freshwater bait.

Hey Bait, is Short Lived, they don't care!

We were in the Pensacola north area, so brackish?

We caught a lot of Drum if that helps,
