Reel Repair by Alan Tani

Hi there

Hoping someone has some old parts laying around.  I'm trying to restore my dads old Mitchell 488. While doing the service I noticed the plastic ratchet portion has developed cracks and suspect the shaft might be bent a little as well.

Doing some research, I believe the part #81483 is interchangeable with several larger Mitchell reels - 386, 387, 396, 486, 487, 488, 496, 497, 498, 499

Does anyone know someone of where I can get some parts for this reel?

I likely have the parts for this reel as new old stock.

Would you be able to post a photo of the spool axle with the length measurement, please?

Hey Fred, thanks for helping me with this Mitchell 488.  The shaft is 6 inches long and 6.5mm thick. Unfortunately, I can't figure out how to include a photo in this chat but I do have photos
