Hi, I'm a fine artist located in Massachusetts. My work encompasses vintage fishing items, motors, lures and reels. My work is offered on Martha's Vineyard and I've been featured in On The Water magazine Most recently, I created a painting of a vintage Ocean City reel in blue that came out well. I'd like to make more paintings like it but it's extraordinarily difficult to find vintage reels with nice color side plates. I only need them long enough to photograph them in detail. I'd be open to renting or buying if someone would help. Would like to hear your thoughts. If I can figure out how to share a photo on this feed I'll post a picture of my latest painting - thanks for your help! Ralph

Ok, Hopefully this helps. This is the recently completed painting Ocean City, oil on birch panel 30" x 30". I'm looking for more examples of colorful Vintage reels or ones with color side plates that I can create more paintings from (see my other post). I'd be willing to buy or rent - I'd welcome any thoughts or ideas. Thanks! Ralph

Ocean City has a few. Olympic made some nice colorful stuff. There's a thread here on Penn reels with colored plates. Also there's lots of aftermarket Newell plates in wild colors (search Newell Skittles plates). They're not quite as vintage but they still have that vintage look. Also some everol reels came in some wild colors but I'm not quite sure how long ago that was.
