Well you might see this topic posted in several places on Alan's site.
I'm new to computers and still learning.
I do apologize for this.

I came across this reel in a box with many other reel. There are no names no numbers or identifying marks anywhere.
I will now try and post pictures as well.
Has anyone seen this reel before.
Thank you,  coffee

Very curious critter - do you rotate it 90 degrees to cast, then back again to retrieve? The stem assembly seems to allow it to be unlocked and twisted.

EDIT: Also I suspect the orange band on the spool is not original?

Coffee

Yes it rotates 90 degrees to cast.
Also the bail doesn't flip up, or down,
It waves in and out.
I believe it mounts under the rod,
And cranks with the left hand.
Yes boon, the orange band is just a line holder thingy. I don't think it's original to the reel either.

Interesting and cool old flip reel. Haven't seen one in person but know it's general history.

Two questions for you:
How did you come by it?
And, second
Would you be interested at all in selling it?

It would fit in nicely with my little group of pivoting reels, i.e. Flo Line, Colgrove, SpoolChange, Mar-Vel, etc.

Hello everyone, what a beautiful day.
Tommy, here's the story.
This reel came from a friend's estate.
He was a collector, seller, and a buyer of everything fishing, and everything else.
I had a chance to purchase about half of his collection without knowing much about vintage fish stuff. My wife and I have been ebay sellers for many years. So my intent was to sell everything. Most everything I've been able to identify, but every once in a while I come across something that apparently doesn't exist, like this reel. These items I have been putting aside.
I have reached out to a few people who have websites who buy and sell vintage fishing equipment, but nobody seems to have seen this reel before.
So in a nutshell, this reel came from a friend's estate.
Yes this reel will eventually be for sale.

My first thought, it looked like a bowfishing reel. So I'll ask, could it happen to be a vintage bowfishing reel?

Does it look like it mounts forward facing and then pivots to the side for reeling?

Midway Tommy

It's not a bow fishing reel. The arc in the foot is so it fits tightly on a fishing rod.

This is not a big or heavy duty reel.
From the foot to the top of the reel measures 3 1/2 inches.
The spool measures about 1 7/8 of an inch across the front.

Since you are going to sell it could you PM me a price? I'm serious about purchasing it if the price is reasonable.

Ok Tom, I'm gonna try to figure out how to PM. I'm still learning to navigate Alan's site.
I'm not computer savvy by any means.
It took my quite a while to figure out how to post and send pictures.
I'm sure it's going to take me a minute to figure this out as well.
I appreciate your patience.
