Hi
I picked up an Abu 7200 on flea bay
When cleaning it I noticed that the pinion that connects the line spool to the handle winder has a small plastic section that looks broken
The plastic part slides into the shoulder thing to support it in place and loosen when casting
My question is
Are these pinions replaceable with a standard 7000 series as they don't make the 7200 anymore ?

Thanks
Greg

I never heard of a 7200 but suspect it is a high speed 7000.  If so, the main gear and it's pinion may be the only difference.

Is the piece you're looking for number 22 or 23 on this schematic?

Not 22 or 23
It's
Number 18

Gregory

Sorry OC1
I should have mentioned
It's a high speed

Uh-oh.  If the speed is different from the 7000 then the pinion may be different too.  To get more speed the size of the main gear is increased and/or the size of the pinion is reduced.

I misunderstood what part you are talking about because I've never seen a plastic insert on the pinion.

It will cost ten bucks to see if, by chance, a 7000 pinion will work.  A gamble.  Best of luck with it

Gregory

Thankyou
yes , even though its ok at the moment it may be safer to get a 7000 pinion to keep as a spare and see how it goes

Good News
I found a 7200 schematic and I rang up the local abu spare parts here in NSW Australia
They have spare pinions for this model
I am going to order one tomorrow 🥳

Wotcher Greg.........is it just the plastic yoke to which you refer as being broken?????  and not the pinion itself?????

Just curious.

Gregory

Yep the plastic collar that slips over the pinion
For the cost of the pinion and collar with postage I'll order both
Under $20 aus supply and postage
