Well this is disappointing. Cracked brake on Lews BB.

I was excited to work on this semi modern metal frame BB reel. Much to my disappointment, when I opened the side, the brake fell out. This part is probably impossible to find and not worth the price of a replacement. Should I attempt to super glue this back together or just toss it?

Superglue won't hold.  You could possibly use plastic welder staples but most likely, its not worth the effort.

If you already have the plastic welder and some staples it would be worth the effort. If not, I would probably just toss it in the circular bin unless you want to experiment.

I have used the plastic welder and staples to successfully repair many items, the plastic cover on top of my 1999 Mercedes engine, an ATV fender, a headlight mounting bracket and even the latch handle on my Toyota truck. To me it is a tool worth having around the shop.

I know nothing about 3-D printing other than there is such a thing.  A possibility, maybe?

I would try CA glue . than if you have a soldering gun Possible a few tack welds !

I do have a small soldering iron. I have nothing to lose. I'll use some CA and try to melt a few tiny welds.

Might have lucked out a little. There is a metal rig that sits in the middle. I'll gently rough up the surfaces and CA around that too. Looks like at some point this reel was exposed to an extreme temperature fluctuation and expanded the ring cracking the brake.

Even tho it is a brake ring , I don`t think it would have a lot of heat . Hard to say from the picture , but it looks like there is two other hairline cracks in the makings .

There's definitely at least one more crack. As long as I bond the metal ring and the spool shaft on, I think it will hold and possibly stabilize the other cracks.

It does. This is a reel that came with a rod I wanted. I really just wanted the rod but might as well try to save the break.

Show us the rod too; just out of curiosity.  If you decided you really like the BB and wanted to fish with them, then it wouldn't hurt to have a parts reel.  They seem a little heavy to me, even for their era.

Try here.  It looks like item #91.   The top link in the link below is the schematic the rest are parts lists for different model BB reels.

Hi, my name is Lee and I have a fishing gear problem.

I have all of the answers, yup, no, maybe.

The rod is nothing special but will fit the bill as a stripper rod I wanted for a small dam that's close to me. Heavy/extra heavy Bass pro HM54 7'. 3/8-2 oz. Early 2000s. It's a beast I'll probably put an Abu 5000/5500 on and throw 3/4 oz Flukes on.

Nice.  On the Texas Gulf Coast we used to call that style a "popping rod" characterized by a drop-down reel seat but with a long two-handed grip.  They were used with a concave popping cork. When it was given a hard two-handed jerk the cork would make a popping sound like a seatrout sucking down a shrimp at the surface.  I thought they had gone out of style in the 1970's.
