I got a Shakespeare Marhoff 1964 in a group of reels I have no idea the history probably will not keep it.

The Marhoff is a classic and was the top of the line in it's day.  As I recall the story, the guy Marhoff was Will Shahespeare's engineering partner in crime.  He died so they named the reel after him.

Is 1964  the model,year or both?

1964 is the model.  There are also be two letters stamped on the tail plate.  I can't read them from your second photo.  The two letters refer to the Shakespeare date code.  The date code is the year of introduction.

Some of the early Pflueger reels like the Akron reels were knuckle busters, they were made from German silver, and Nicol coated, cheers Don.

also funny because the model 1964 was introduced about 1908 but was discontinued somewhere around the mid-60's.   

Is that EG or GE?  There is a Marhoff page over at ORCA that says the GE was the last iteration starting in 1946 and they used GE until the end.  Don't know how to link the ORCA  page from my phone.

Its GE,my brain reversed it.
