Lucky to have a few of the CD4 series. Smooth reeling. I seem to have a stuck spool on the arbor. The spool button is stuck on shaft. Will Try oiling and waiting. Notice two slots opposite each other on spool top. Are they used to remove the button assembly? Willing to sacrifice spool as i have extras.

Figured out how remove stuck spool. Black cap unscrews and two holes are used to grip and move threaded cap!  Lots of dirt and button was offset from correct spring position. Will show not depressed spring vs depressed and shaft. Also will show button set up after repairs

Nice. I have the Suveran 1000, made in '01. I've had it apart a couple of times fascinated by the design/engineering. I love the no waste of space gearbox design.
What's the difference between the CD4/6 and Suveran?
Fishing tackle is an art form and all fish caught on the right tackle are"Gfish"!

I think cd4 has 4 bearings while cd6 has 6 bearings. Also cd 6 has larger spools but not 100% as I don't have cd6. I have suveran but never done side to side comparison.

I can confirm that cd/6 has 5 bearings and 1 needle bearing.

Hey all,
I have a CD-6 1000 missing the compression spring for the bail. It popped out when I took cover off to clean and was careless setting it down. Anyway, lost the spring and couldn't find after hours of searching. (Old spring on wood floors is perfect camo, lol) Wondering if any one has a picture of how it fits together with the plastic pieces and the approximate size so I can buy workable replacement spring.

Thnaks Robert!  Just the thread and pictures I needed. Like Quang I couldn't see the smaller piece in the schematic.  Got a substitute spring (maybe a litte longer?)put in and the bail is working as well as before. Spring and cover and plastic pieces kept moving around but finally got the cover securely shut. Just need to remember it's a little finicky if I ever open it again. Thanks again, Russ
