I have been going down a Gold Series
rabbit hole lately in particular

the GS series beginning with GS-1 Daiwa Seiko,Japan a 1000 size reel assuming the GS-2 is a 2000 size?

It seems the GS-10 does not mention Seiko,Japan.I haven't found much on the history. It seems to be the predecessor of the BG series.

Seiko only made watches . Daiwa made fishing ,golf ,bicycle equipment . that 2 company split out since 2009 so you don't see Seiko name after 2009 ,but they all made by Daiwa

The GS-1 & 2 have Manufactured by Daiwa Seiko,Japan on the spools.

One seller claims a GS-2 has 5 BB & the label
On the reel states 2 BB?

I found this:

GS-1,GS-2 and older GS-10,GS-13 have a plastic piece to kick to bail close . the newer GS-10 , GS-13 ,GS-15... don't have that piece ,the mechanist to close bail inside rotor . I like the new design better so I can open bail at index finger to pick up line , on older reel you have to open bail before that spot

I only have the GS-60. It is about the size of Daiwa's 7000C, and very similar except the color and the silent anti reverse. In this size, the bail bangs against an exteral bumper to close. The box says three ball bearings, which is accurate. Neither the reel nor the box have the word Seiko on them.
It's a great reel for my style of surf fishing.
