So I have seen posts referencing the 2070, 2080, and 2090 Shakespeare Sea Wonder reels being made with textured black paint only in their first year, 1958, code FC.  Did all FC Sea Wonder reels have the black textured finish?
I have a very nice example of the textured reels, and have gathered up three more 2080's when buying yard sale boxes.  One of the reels with an emblem marked FC was repainted to resemble the royal maroons.  Examining the interior of the body parts, I find no indication that it was originally textured paint, but rather smooth charcoal grey color.  The other two reels are labeled FB (1959) and EJ (1962.)
I also see on eBay several FC labeled reels with what looks like smooth grey paint.  Any wisdom from the Ohana?
As a nice bonus, the FB reel came with factory PUM.  Are those very common?
Nine of the eleven voices in my head are telling me to go fishing today.

My gut tells me that one of two things happened...either they switched to the gloss charcoal late in 1958 OR somebody stuck an FC dated emblem on a slightly newer gloss charcoal reel. I don't think the maroon color started till 1964-ish but Midway Tommy likely knows for sure.
