I'm not an expert, but it looks like a Penn aluminum spool to me. The Newell ones don't have the angular "shoulders."

So did you wind up buying the base and frame bars from Randy at vintage offshore tackle? Never mind I see that you grabbed them going back to your thread. Nice score! I grabbed the 150 spool offered by Rancanfish. The stainless spool on the my other 150 wasn't looking so hot either!

I hope that spool works out well for you! I haven't fished my 150 (or my 180) much recently, because where the carp are currently at in the lake I usually fish is requiring very long casts, so I'm using my Daiwa SL30SH on a 10 ft surf rod and my Ambassadeurs on 7.5 or 8 ft rods. I can cast them farther than the 150 or 180.
