My wife is a sweetheart and appreciates the fact that I don't p_$$ away money on alcohol, so she's fine with my obsession. She figures it's a lot better than me hanging out on some bar somewhere. I guess I came into this reel fancying thing without any expectations that I would own reels I wouldn't use. I'm not developing a museum. I respect museums and their purpose of cataloging history. And I won't be vying for museum level artifacts.

Struggling a bit with that right now as 72 approaches and I have no idea how many reels I purchased in the last few years of my addiction. I have several that I will never fish. I was recently looking for a particular ocean city reel and several came up from one seller. I made the opening bid on 5 or 6 of them and nobody else bid? Unexpected large purchase. I hope that I didn't miss any major flaws on the reels and that the seller will be kind enough to combine freight as inexpensively as possible. I might keep two.
I need to start selling and get my stable down to under 50 reels.

 

What's meaningful to me doesn't necessarily mean anything to my kids. Even if they know it was meaningful to me. Try to sell to someone who will appreciate it, the future generations won't!
