while servicing my only 700 I tried to remove the drag washer it appears to be asbestos? It is stuck & looks like I will destroy it trying to remove it

Maybe you can get something underneath it and work it loose. Might be a good idea to replace it anyway, they can get stuck almost like glue and the only way they come out is in pieces
Do what you can with that you have where you are

Yet I tried a scribe its falling apart, mystic shows a Teflon replacement,I might have to mic it & look at ACE fer one unless Swami knows the size already :al

That brake liner material never was a good option.  Mic it.  It would be convenient if you can get an I.D., O.D. and thickness on the washer before scraping it out.  Smooth Drag may have something about that I.D. and O.D. Than, stack a few carbon fiber washers to get the correct thickness.

If it's stuck together, it's not working properly! Scrape it out/off and replace with greased carbon fiber!

If this is the washer under the spool, like Mark sez —- just replace it with a CF, LIGHTLY greased with Cal's.  Work the grease into the weave of the CF (HT-100, size 6-60).

Or just replace the washer with a teflon white factory washer, NOT greased.

All of the drags should be replaced, including the brass ones switched over to SS.

Here is he schematic.

The washer under the spool is the teflon one Mystic is showing  Above the spool is the drag washer you are digging out and looks like asbestos.  Replace that one with one or several carbon fiber washers from Smooth Drag (however many are needed to get the same thickness as the original.  On top of that is the metal washer you have already removed.  Note the wire retaining spring that the schematic is, for some reason, calling "51-700 retaining screw".  Did you remove this wire retainer before trying to remove the upper drag washer that looks like asbestos?

Yes Steve I had to use a scribe to get the ring out & removed the old asbestos
washer & was able to mic the thickness on one scrap piece.I measured the spool orifices ::)  to get the other dimensions.

ID 10mm,OD 20.6mm,thickness 2.5mm

I found an old thread Sal modded a 700 to work with a full stack. Some mentioned a 704 spool would work
on a 700 ,some said it wouldn't?

Sal was right most if not all of the time.

Order one  56T-704, one 60-710 teflion washer and one 57A-750 metal keyed washer.  2 or 3 6-60 CF drag washer might be a better choice and at $1.30 each I would order them and both a  56T-704 and  60-710  teflon drag washer.  You should have the right parts to fit the reel then.
