Took the new 180's out this morning.

You all were right...these are fine reels. On an 8 foot medium action rod with 40 lb braid, 30 lb shock leader, and 3 0z of weight I was easily casting 50 yards without even trying. Smooth and easy to handle, although a bit slow on the return, but thats ok..... and, the crank as it comes is enough leverage for what I will use them for. Superb little reels!!!
Overkill....is way underrated.

Did you catch anything with them? I had my 180 out fishing for carp the other day, but I was skunked  :(

I was fishing a lake near the house...nothing but turtles and gar...no cats. I need to get down to the rivers. Much better chance for cats. I really dont fish for carp. I hear they are fun to catch though. I might give that a try because that lake has some HUGE carp and buffalo in it. Might be a good test for the 180's, but I predominately fish for just cats.
Overkill....is way underrated.
