Deep fried beef brain on rye was a delicacy in South St Louis years ago. LOVED those sandwiches, but you can't get beef brain anymore. My butcher got me several hog brains recently, and they were good, just smaller. Brain comes out light and fluffy like pink scrambled eggs, the breading keeps it together. Makes me hungry just thinking about it. Any other fans in the group?

Hmmm, no more Beef Brain? Mad Cow disease concerns?
There's a lot of protein sources we in the West don't make use of.

yep, its pretty normal dish here in Mexico, not as often as it used to be but still not hard to find a meal / tacos made with brain/sesos
actually Madcow desease back in the day stopped a lot that kind of plates made with cow brains, before that it was pretty normal to buy brain meat on local markets, now you can only find it on few meat markets.

I dont particulary like it, I can eat it if I have to but If I have the option I would choose cow head section as tonge or lips or eyes (LOL, I can imagine the faces some are making).

Love some lengua tacos but I've never had tongue outside of that context. Hog snoots are another St Louis thing, but I have never tried that. I'm open to eating all sorts of offal...everything but the oink, or moo as the case may be.

There's a great taco place here, Lucy's,  2 tortillas, meat of choice, onion, celantro and a giant salsa bar. Nothing else. Every kind of meat imaginable, goat is tasty

My parents were from upstate New York, and tongue (boiled with spices) wasn't uncommon in our household, when available, growing up. The availability in the Panhandle of Texas in the 50's, 60's and 70's was a problem, though.

I tried beef tongue tacos at our local flea market, not bad but not good enough to repeat.

Brains may be great, but I have no desire to try them.

Brains for tanning hydes, wonder how they figured that out...

I tried Escargot once no biggie & have no reason to eat any bugs.

My Filipino buddie  ate Balut after a night of bar hopping,I will pass on that too :d

I remember going with my dad as a kid to an Armenian deli/butcher shop in Miami and seeing a row of rams heads and being confused and kinda grossed out. My Dad's friend who was with us tried to talk my dad into getting one just to mess with me and my brother.

When it comes to any kinda meat, I avoid the raw stuff. "Let's go get some Poke, Gregg!" No thanks, I'll order Unagi(cooked eel) if they have it.
