Those were 114H reels, the handles were the only thing compatible.

I will check for dog spring too. That may put you just needing drag set. You get an AT discount with Mystic. I don't think I have any 114 drags, but maybe I upgraded somewhere and have something better than what's in there.


Lee would be correct- I thought about mentioning that but nothing in those reels for you except handle, and I can send one.

I missed the 37-114 frame posts that are also the same for 114 and 114H reels.

What about the spool?

No.  29L-114 and 29M-114 spools are for the 114, 29L-114H and 29M-114H spools are for the 114H.  The spool shaft ends and bearings are not the same.

The 29N-114 and 29M-114H are chromed BRONZE not brass.

I hope I'm not hijacking a thread but couldn't he just use the 114H bearing cups?
On topic: I have a 114 (not H) drag set, that I'm not likely to use. I don't remember the # of disks but it's thin carbon and thin metal so I'm certain it's an aftermarket kit.

I have a 24-115 handle (white) as well as a NIB 5 Stainless/5 CF stack that can be contributed, let me know.
Note: Whether this drag or Jason's which is could very well be the same they are capable of more drag than that old post frame is really going to be happy to deal with, but it doesn't sound like we are hunting IGFA trophies here and as long as you use a little restraint all should be good.
As far as age, your's appears to be an external drag access model, which I know they made up into the 1970's (looking at one right now in original box purchased at Fedco if anybody remembers that store).  Let me know. - john

No, they are not compatible.

Before we underrate the post and stand configuration, I would posit that tons and tons of Carolina headboat grouper and AJ's have been boated with stock 114's, locked down and winched directly against opposite pull with 80 or 100lb mono. I've known folks to use pliers and channel lock's to really seat the drag star. I cringed but they didn't get rocked by big gags either. All depends on intended use.

Absolutely nothing wrong with the early low speed reels for many things.  In fact low speed reels have more uses than ridiculously high speed modern reel trends.

Hello all,  I am really overwhelmed with the generosity and kindness shown by fellow members, it means so much to me, thank you to everyone who offered  thoughts, ideas, suggestion and parts! 

As mentioned, I'm not after a perfect rebuild but will try my best- battling my OCD! 😂

I contacted Mystic parts  and waiting for shipping estimates.  Im switzerland based   but might have option of a USA shipping address-  will keep  you  updated ASAP.

 As mentioned, a dog spring, drag pack and a reworked dog clicker and its  fishing time!  ☺️😆👌🙃

You might have to have the parts you get from Mystic delivered to one of us in the USA and we can forward them to you.  Drag washers and AR dog springs can go in a regular letter envelope possably avoiding duties.

I have a donor sideplate if you can not get the clicker dog working.

The generosity of folks here is always amazing and they've helped me more than once.
As you are in Switzerland, getting things from the USA might not be so easy (but not as bad as here in the UK now  ).

I tend to scour ebay and pick up the occasional donor reel for next to nothing (those were the days  ), mixing the best bits to make one functional reel and leaving me with a box of spares for another time. The Penn parts listing is extremely helpful in finding out which parts from different reels are interchangeable.

I think the 114H handle is the same as on a 115 9/0 but the 114 handle is smaller; however, because the hole is the same size, they are interchangeable. Again the parts listing will help and there is a chart on handle interchangeability at mysticparts.com

Regarding the clicker cog on the spool, I remember (as I haven't opened the reel to look again) that it does seem to be two thin parts stacked together (toothed washers) rather than one thick one, but I've never seen one before where the teeth are offset like yours, producing a double click.
