Sandbar, reel looks like it might have spent some time at a sandbar. I like old metal Daiwa spinners, and the handle looks ok to me. Spool looks ok as well, so worth saving IMO too. My silver 2600c looks way worse but still works great catching fish.

I would say better than even odds that Fred will pop up with either an exact handle or one that is close enough.

Looks like this reel was put away wet... several times. I'd call that "better than expected" condition given what it seems to have been through.

I'm think that its a mixture of salt water residue and sand, but how the heck did it get inside the reel other than inadvertent swimming lessons? I actually already ordered a new spool that I found on E for a fairly reasonable price.There was some nasty corrosion hidden under the fishing line.
The handle is permanently ugly but will work fine once I find a screw to hold it on the non-handle side. I sent my wish list to Mat's Reel Repair this afternoon but they already told me that they don't have the handle.
I have too many reels in pieces right now. I might do a quick clean up on this one first then come back to it if I get some parts. It will fish as is with the grit and salt removed.The cooler weather is coming to Florida soon and I am anxious to free up some weekends to wet a line.

Can't Sleep.
Complete disassembly except for the Frozen parts of the handle.

I'll look for a handle in my bin. But, like the others, I'd still bet on Fred.

I'd be really, really grateful if someone had, or had a source for, a GS-9 handle...
