Nice fish from Hardyboy,  it was catch and fillet or Catch and Release?
by the pic it looks like a baby golliat grouper, they can grow up to 500-700 lb

which sadly are being caught at that big adult size too

Giand black sea bass. You can keep them and they are very good to eat. The lodge encouragesrelwase of the karger specimens and the guides release the fish that are over 100 lbs or so. The one in the picture is in the freezer it was close to 60 lbs. As a side note it kicked my #### as I caught it on a spinner outfit.

Cheers

thats exactly whats brought them to be an endangered fish, their delicious meat and slow grown rate, Mexico need to put them on the list of prohibited fish to catch just like in the USA, but I will stop here for the better. Im not conservasionist either.  :P

In this day and age it makes no sense for sportfishermen to kill fish.  If you want to eat fish then get a Filet-O-Fish sandwich made from a regulated and sustainable fishery.

Vintage Offshore Tackle

The easiest fish to release is one that someone else caught.

BSB also get bad barro trauma..... not always viable to release. Many were caught on our groups trip.... some released and some kept.... all following the regulations of the country being fished in....

As an FYI your fillet o fish comes from the huge Alaska pollock trawl fishery which takes millions of tons of fish with by catch that affects halibut, salmon and sole populations. It is managed as does mexico manage its own sovereign fisheries. I worked with many commercial fisheries as a manager with the federal government of Canada.

Antibiotic poluted flesh, waste build up under the pens, parasites and where do they get the feed for farm raised fish.

Here's a hint on feed, harvesting massive amounts of the bottom of the food chain and reducing the feed that is available for wild fish.

Friends don't let friends eat farm raised fish.

The Filet-O-Fish sandwiches and Alaska Pollock are a sustainable fishery according to fishery managers.  Not very much pollock is farmed; probably because it is just as easy to farm fish with a higher market value.

Chilean anchovies produce the best fish meal for pelleted fish food.  The Chilean fisheries are heavily managed and sustainable.  Menhaden fish meal from the East and Southeastern U.S. is also regulated and used in fish, poultry and swine food. But Menhaden fish meal is lower quality.  Further, many sport fishermen think that the menhaden fishery is adversely affecting striped bass. bluefish and some other sportfish.  The respective Regional Fishery Management Councils are all over it as we speak.

Catching bait to feed pen raised BFT is what led to Cedros being closed to boats greater than 35' long.
