I never use this reel or see someone fishing with it in real life . I saw Mr Thill ( Thill float ) use it at fishing show in Chicago and I think it from England

Crab Pot

Back when I was a kid that was what we used solely for Salmon on the ocean.

Wish I had some of my grandfathers and dads mooching set ups...

Thanks for bringing back some good memories,

Steve
Buy it nice or buy it twice.

Hi, my name is Lee and I have a fishing gear problem.

I have all of the answers, yup, no, maybe.

Leave the gun.  Take the cannolis.

There are two things I don't like about fishing.  Getting up early in the morning and boats.  The rest of it is fun.

It seems the stubby little rear rod grip used with mooching reels would be a gripe.  I don't understand why they need to be that way.  It'd fall out of the rod holder.  There's nothing to brace the butt against.  If you brace the butt against your belly your cranking hand will get hung up on your shirt tail.

Lets see if this clip plays?   If so it could be a hoot.   Just saying :cf

Its pretty self explanatory ,  Line goes out, then line comes back in,  maybe the fear of the knuckles getting a rub is likened to the recoil of a for instance rifle or hand gun?  When you pull the trigger on a trophy you soon enjoy the hunt and not the muzzle blast or recoil.....
Its kinda hard to explain,  not that i really need to.  some people like spinners, some like bait casters, some like going to the market,  some just Brouse here briefly,
Maybe more footage of some quarry will amuse the more skeptical?  Lets have some fun, :d

Heres an every day scenario of a nice morning out in the saltchuck.

35+ years of fishing salmon with mooching reels with long limber whips, and yes, I've had my knuckles busted more than once from an angry king or mid teen coho ripping the knob from my fingers when it decided to turn and run zero to 60 in 2 seconds. To this day, every time I get a line ripper, it sends tingles up and down my spine

It's cool, Jigmasters are still a thing too... or so I'm told!
