Hello from north of Winnipeg, Manitoba.  Not really much ocean fishing here, but lots of real big pike and musky as well as monster walleye.
I am moving to the Philippines to retire in 3-4 years.  I do a lot of fishing here and that is why I want to go to the Philippines. Nice and warm.. Lots of big fish there to catch.  I will be moving to the City of Cagayan De Oro on Macadjalar Bay in Mindinao. Lots of reefs and very deep ocean. Also lots of swordfish, tuna and other big fish. There is Large Mouth Bass fishing that was introduced in the early 1900's and again in the 1940's and 1950's.  I like to restore antique fishing reels, especially Ocean City and Penn. I find my parts on eBay or make parts on my milling machine and small lathe.  I have looked the site over and give it good praise. Well layed out and seems like interesting good people.  Doug Holmes

Welcome Doug.  Would also love to see the parts you are making to repair your antique reels.
:D I talk with every part I send out and each reel I repair so that they perform at the top of their game. :D

Welcome from Northern California. Dominick
Leave the gun.  Take the cannolis.

There are two things I don't like about fishing.  Getting up early in the morning and boats.  The rest of it is fun.

Hello from Frosty Manitoba.  We just had a snow storm on the weekend. Still kakakakold. Can you say minus 31 this morning.  Supposed to be the first day of spring here, hahaha, ya, right.
My wife is a filapina and her family home is in the west of Mindano, in the province of Sibugay on the island of Zamboanga.  We own a rice field there, a money maker when it produces. also a property with rubber trees that can be tapped in another 3-4 years. We bought a large lot over looking Macadjalar bay in Cagayan De Oro and will be building a house there in 2014-15 and move in in late 2015 when it get cold here in Manitoba. I have never had a warm green christmas.... It is way up high away from Tsunamis and the enevitable typhoon floods.  I'll be collecting my old age pension then and the amount, well, we can live very very well. The big difference in the Canadian or U.S. $ and the Philippine pesos, 39-40 to $1.00 and food is cheap and always daily fresh in the markets. Fish is the main course once or twice usually, always caught that day, and beef and pork weekly.  The months with er in them, september to december are the pelagic fish months.   The scenery there is tropical and between the women and scenery, I don't know which is more beautiful. Once there and catching a few fish, I shall post pictures.  I am presently looking for a Boston Whaler in the 20-24 foot range, center consul for the bay fishing.  Boats are also cheap there compared to here.  We will be planning a trip there for a holiday next year and lots of fishing.   Keep fishing. Doug

Welcome Doug. Get your reels ready before you go, then keep 'em going after you move. Alan's site has a long reach! ;)
