Reel Repair by Alan Tani

Hi, all. I say enjoyment because at 150.00 an hour, plus all the software setup fees at the shop who derives their livlihood from such things is a bit spendy, seeing's how the project I want to do will not make ~me~ a living.

I have several metal, older Daiwa 175, 275, 375 mooching reels that I want to turn into lighter fresh water fly reels, with graphics not easy to do manually, accurately. They could be manually done, but accuracy is the issue. Couched talk for: they would look pretty crappy if done with a file and a pencil.  Cheers, KD.

bryan just learned how to do cad drawings.  it seems like that would be the place to start.

Hello.... I will send a note explaining what I'm on about.  As above, I want to turn a mooching reel into a fly reel, by lightening it, and cutting in some graphics.    Front view stock:  Customization when I send the note. Mooching reels can go into freespool mode with a flick of the lever on the back, thereby sending the fly down the run as far as you want, or as far as the run lets you, or as far as you care to drift the tie.  cheers, kd.

I seriously looked into building my own CNC a while back. It would be so neat to have one at home. But I had to cut back on all the different projects in the pipeline. Some day maybe. And maybe then you could have a machine that can both cut and add material.. Best of two worlds...
