I was watching American Pickers the other night while reading the paper. Of course my inner ear perks up when I heard the old geezer say "Thats a (either Ohio or Oaklahoma) fishing reel." I looked up to see a hand crank generator with a couple wires coming out of the box. He said you put the wires into the water and start cranking.
Anyone ever hear of this?

Being ex army sigs, I remember a story I heard about the first world war. The signalers were in tents on the outer edges of the camp, just before the out houses or whatever they had set up. Anyway, because the walk was far, many just stopped by the signalers tents to urinate. Well, needless to say, the signallers got a bit annoyed so they would wire up their hand crank generators out into the grass just outside their tents and when anyone stopped to urinate, they'd crank them up. Needless to say, it was a good deterrent.

You know that moment when your steak is on the grill and you can already feel your mouth watering.
Do vegans feel the same when mowing the lawn?

When I worked for the DNR, I used to conduct electro fishing surveys both in the rivers (using rat-tail back pack), and in lakes (onboard an electro fishing boat).  In both cases you need some good rubber gloves, and boots.  Also, on the boat, everyone onboard is 'energized to thousands of volts, so I was advised right before attempting to relieve myself, that this was probably not a good idea since urine is an electrolight an likely to complete the circuit.  Lesson learned.  Electro fishing can teach you alot about a given body of water, and has no lasting/negative impact on the fish.

The other fishing-related use of electricity that comes to mind is wiring up 2 metal stakes/electrodes to the ground in the backyard, after watering the grass throughly of course, to drive the night crawlers to the surface.  Again, it is highly advisable to make sure to unplug the cord before pickin your crawlers.

Tightlines:  In other words and if I get you correctly.  When you have an impulse for some hydroelectric output outage you should not touch your pole because of impedance.  Is this what you are talking about?  Dominick
Leave the gun.  Take the cannolis.

There are two things I don't like about fishing.  Getting up early in the morning and boats.  The rest of it is fun.
