Say, I'm getting ready to upgrade my Penn 114HL.  I have a stainless steel yolk and a stainless steel gear sleeve.

I do have a question though.  Will there be any issues with upgrading these 2 parts with Stainless Steel, while the main gear is still brass?  I don't want to end up with brass shavings in my reel because some parts are brass and some are Stainless.

I appreciate any input.

you will be fine.  the stainless steel gear sleeve rubs up against the brass main gear.  no problem there.  for the yoke, there is occasionally a problem with the stainless steel pinion gear digging into the softer brass yoke.  that's why the upgrade is offered.  it's not because of galvanic corrosion issues.  alan

Alan, as always, thanks for the help.

Now, if I could only find a Stainless Steel Main Gear for a Penn 114HL.

the manganese/bronze alloy gear should work fine.  but i agree, stainless would be nice!
