Hello Dave, the hole pattern lines up, it is just the angle of the pic.
That would be very nice of you to make Jim some custom spacers, he should go for it, i've seen some of your work. I bet that reel would look sharp and unique.

Forget about all the reasons why something may not work. You only need to find one good reason why it will.

I have a Accurate Frame that was supposed to be a 113HLW frame. It was a little to narrow for the Penn HLW spool to fit & only had 6 holes on each side. The six holes lined up with the 8 hole Penn plates but 2 holes were not in the frame on each side. I made up the difference in width by using an extra set of inner rings installed backwards & installed a LB 268 spool. It was a perfect fit but the plates had 2 holes that the frame didn't have. I used it with a set of 113 4/0 Senator plates that Sal modified for me with double dogs & upped the gear ratio to 2.6 to 1 when he first started to to modify a Grouper Special to an even a higher ratio than my 2.4 ratio. Sal, do you remember that one?   ;)           Rudy

Could he not make a 1/16" spacer for each side of the frame and use the standard 145 spool?
Absolutely, I was taking a pic for jim to give him an idea of using rings, but 10 ss washers will work just as good.

I was thinking for him to cut two rings that are not in great shape as i'm showing here

He would round off the edge by the arrow and file down the lip  so it would go over the mounting screws at the bottom.
Washers or ring would give close enough dimensions to make it work.

Of course, if you are concerned about looks, this might not be a good option for you.
The ring does slide over the frame, so,  it might not look bad

Perfect Sal!

On a side note:  is it the angle, or is the top left hole in the frame out of alignment in Sal's  photo?

....

Good ideas!  Are the rings the right thickness?

With a bit of fidgeting, a coping or jig saw, drill and some sandpaper,   It wouldn't be difficult for somebody to cut a nice set out of delrin if the sheet stock thickness is the same.  Delrin is really easy to work with, doesn't creep much at all, and would provide a corrosion barrier.  A local retail plastics shop should be willing to cut a small chunk to order.

Randy: Are there many of these standalone frames out there?  It would not be too tricky to make up a batch of delrin spacers.

One other idea:   If somebody has the exact measurements for the hole pattern,  I can 3D print some spacers out  of a carbon fiber/plastic blend  for Jim to try.  In the words of Henry Ford "Any color you want, as long as it is black".    ;D.   N/C

  PM me if interested.

Dave, I believe that Accurate produced only complete frame/spool kits.  I am sure that there are a few standalone frames out there, as Jim found one, but they are going to be very few and far between.

Wow, I like the idea of the delrin spacer. I tried some rings from a 155 and reversed them and they seemed like they might work
with some modification the screw pattern for the frame matches the Penn 2-155 rings. Felt a little tight when I turned the handle
and sounded like a little spool rubbing somewhere. Where would be a good source for delrin sheets 1/16" in?

    Thanks for all ideas!

McMaster-Carr has the Delrin sheets.

As I mentioned in my post, try your local plastics retailer.  In my town, that is TAP Plastics.    TAP will happily cut small chunks to order.  But you can find the stuff on Amazon, ebay, etc. or tons of other  places online, but  in larger fixed sizes.   In my town, some of the metal suppliers also carry acetal/delrin, but they are not very excited about customers that call up asking about  4 square inches of 1/16 (they may hang up on you  :D).   For your purposes, Delrin (DuPont trade name for acetal homopolymer), or generic acetal copolymer are interchangeable,  so look for both Delrin and acetal.    I seem to remember that nominal thickness is typically the same as actual thickness (+/- listed tolerance) for delrin/acetal sheets,  but it is worth checking before you buy.  For other plastics, actual  is typically a couple thou thinner than nominal or worse.

Post a photo when you finish!

Jim, if you you wanted to give it a shot, here is one place you could try for the Delrin

You also have another choice

If you don't need that reel back right away, put all parts  in a box and send it over, I want to see what I could do with it...N/C
