Heya Boyos,

Need a machinist to whip one of these out:

OD is 25mm and it just needs to be a tube with no fancy machining inside. I can send you this one as a model.

This is needed for a planned Daiwa BG MQ tutorial and Daiwa won't sell them....to the likes of me.  :P

Or maybe Handi2 (or other certified Daiwa Tech) can buy one from them for me and route it my way?

Best regards, John

Do you have a Daiwa part number, John?

Let me know if you need me John. If this is a tool necessary for servicing and can't be purchased, let's get it done.

Might need to know how thick  the wall is . All measurements will help..
Might start off with a 6 or 12 point socket about 11/16- 3/4 and cut the 3  windows  out .

There is no Daiwa part number afaik...it's a tool they only sell to their certified techs and can't be found elsewhere... The one pictured I bought off ebay $50 but the internal stuff blocks bigger reels ie 14k and above. The id of the tube is 1.5mm...thinner than that is better than thicker.

Can you take more pictures of your tool , seems like the inner parts may come out on your`s  and then you should be able to go deeper!

Thanks for the dimensions Joe,  I think there are about four different sizes required for the range.  I have a tool for the up to 4000 size.
I have got hold of some 6060 (I think) Ally tubes that fit inside each other (used for bimini tops, tent poles etc I believe) and I think they will fit with maybe a thou off OD and ID in a lathe, then the slots machined.
Once the sizes are established I might talk to a local machinist because they would be better in stainless or similar, I will have to see how the alloy goes because I am certain that they have a pet silverback gorilla in the factory that torques these down!
cheers

The dimension that i posted have not been proven to fit yet , but copper is very easy to work with , it can be expanded or shrunk down .
" I think there are about four different sizes required for the range. "      Any body out there want to post possible measurements ,
I might have a idea to make a one size fits all if they are some what close .

::)   Maybe just make 3 legs and worm  clamp them to a existing tubing  .

Stuff like this reminds me why I like older reels. The kind you can open with a screwdriver. And I'm a big daiwa fan too.

I was able to do a quick measure in the shop a while back so that I could source the tube, results will give you some idea:
Certate LT5000  ID 17mm, OD 20mm,  13mm between slots
Saltigas:
8000/10000/14000  ID 22mm, OD 25mmm sloth width 1.38mm (ish)
18000/20000  ID 25mm, OD 28mm

I got four pieces of internally slip fit tube to start the project off evilbay.
The tool that I bought some time ago fits 4000 size and below.  OD 16.5mm, ID 15.3mm, slot depth 2.5mm

Sorry, that's all I have atm, the plan was/is to take reels and the tube to the machine shop to fine tune as they will likely need a skim off the ID or OD for a good fit.  The few of these engine plates I have removed have been bluddy tight so a perfect fit would be best to avoid munging up the plate.
cheers

I've run into the "Factory Tool" scam running Volvos years ago.  Injector puller was $1000 back then from the factory, a little creative welding, some threaded rod and tap work we had one for less than $100.  Keep the juices flowing OldmanJoe
