The threads look bent down to me, but the rest of the sleeve is in good condition. Is this normal?
Thanks

Yes, Penn used buttress threads on the 114H gearsleve.  That's one of the problems I'm having finding a tap to make stars.

Hi, my name is Lee and I have a fishing gear problem.

I have all of the answers, yup, no, maybe.

Thanks Keta. That`s a relief. My reel education is expanding thanks to guys like you.
I managed to find a 114h about the same vintage as my 113h, even has the same coloured honeycombe handgrip.
Everything inside looks great, but I need to update the drag.
It`s going to be my 114h narrow project.
Thanks again!

there is another question I have about the main gear in this 114h. I know the chances are slim but because it is shinnier than the main gear in my 113h, which is carbon steel, could the 114h gear possibly be stainless?

Most likely steel.  Put a magnet on it, if it holds strong it's steel, if it holds weak or not at all it's SS.
