Hi Steelhed - Excellent job on that reel with the works but isn't the 506 a narrow version of the 505hs ??.I think your reel is a 506hs.

I have not built a 506 yet. But if I am not mistaken, the 506/505 use bearings and faster gears. The gears in this are stock 4:1, the gears in the 505/506 5:1. I did install the bearings for castability so I don't know what that makes it...

The Raven is one beautiful reel. Now you need to wrap a matching rod...an ordinary rod just won't do it justice.

Last night I stayed in to drink some zin;
I booted up Alan's site and sat up bright;
there was a post by Andy of a purple raven;
now I've seen myself misbehavin and I have
watched myself shavin but I never saw a
